THE COLLECTION
Dimensions: 90” x 21”
Most likely, this is a very old rug, possibly from the 1920s-1930s. It’s width is narrow as was typical during that period and its fringe has an aged patina. The rug itself is in very good condition. The colors in this rug are beautiful and unusual for Swedish rugs. The wide bands at each end border the multicolored larger area of the rug. The golds, grays, blues, peach and green are softly muted with a blended look that flows throughout the rug. This rug is reversible and may be gently washed in cold water.
Dimensions: 13’3” x 24”
This fantastic rug is woven on a wooden loom by a Swedish artisan. The design and attention to detail is exquisite. The symmetrical stripes feature Swedish blues and grays. Soft gold and green tones add a lovely subtle but colorful look and black accents are an important element in the design of this rug. This rug was clearly painstakingly woven, most likely in the 1940s. The rug is reversible, may be washed gently in cold water and it gets better with age.
Dimensions: 137” x 26”
A great example of a colorful Swedish rug, handwoven by a Swedish artisan on a wooden loom. This rug has it all - light colors, dark colors, soft and bold colors. It seems the artisan used these characteristics to create an interesting contrast throughout the rug with great texture and blended colors. The overall appearance is one that is somewhat subdued - but not too much! This rug is reversible and may be washed gently in cold water.
